Two Dimensional People.
Two Dimensional People?
In
everyday reality there is on a practical and what might be accepted to be described
as normality, three dimensions; length, breadth and depth. In these three frames
are placed physical constructs that form a reality and relationship with all the
situations, objects and physical / human contacts that envelop the whole environment
in which saps operate. These functional dimensional limitations are clearly substantive
in their obvious physical form from which saps extract whatever reality that
they deem to operate in and although the objects are of and carry a distinctive
qualitive nature, it can also be demonstrated that in the natural environ of
the humans activities these three dimensions being of primary importance, can perhaps
also be extended with reference to the five senses and enhanced with the other
two undefined ‘senses’; emotion and intellectual perception.
The
ability for a person to operate within a society demands that all these
attributes of human make up are in some measure, being used and are under an
element of personal intelligent control. It is taken as a normal part of a person’s
development that these functional human tools are understood and gained by trial
and error within the social/family/ nurture and social interaction environs,
they are not (just like in thinking) taught. It is assumed that the skills
required to participate in society are acquired, in early years, and over time
‘naturally’ and unless in obvious cases, such as those suffering from physical
or mental limitation, no dysfunctional ability is discerned until much later by
which time it is difficult to offer corrective measure for some, nor indeed are
dysfunctional attributes ever acknowledged for ‘normal’ people. As it is
impossible to know just what a normal functional person is, it is more likely
that most of the human population carry some form of dysfunctional handicap but
within a social society there is a presumed base of functional acceptability
that acknowledge oddities of behaviour and providing the social society is unperturbed
by such ‘oddities’, within the majority of overall human activity, everything
is portrayed as a normality.
If
only normality could be definitively described there may be some scope to believe
that such normality would be open to everyone and readily accepted as the
functional level of a good society, one to which everybody would be prepared to
accept as a worthwhile achievable aim closely aligned with equality in every
aspect. But such normality does not exist, it just may have been possible
within a small cultural solitary system in which the limitation of an
individual would immediately stand out and be challenged unfortunately there is
no such solitary system now, which is probably a fortunate thing. However with
the expansive sophistication of modern personality culture, it is increasingly
possible to see the deviant element of social disorder in all able class
structures notably in the affluent and poor be influenced and move by the
excessive nature of selfish individualism or nihilism to the detriment of
overall social order. There are many example of intelligent individual nihilism,
generally located in the pursuit of philosophical expression and usually
constrained in the mantle of mundane living but where there is a rise of some
noted celebrities that attempts to lay onto society their nihilistic views, it
occasionally gains a short term ‘foothold’ until it hits against the
practicalities of dealing with everyday reality. The people that hold
expressive view may do so on the bases that they exist in a comparatively free
social order that offers the security of the whole social and infrastructure
systems, systems that may have nurtured them and helped develop within them a
grasp of who they are and maybe an understanding of their own psychology and
views in relationship with their dealing with others. These people and their
views may be deemed odd but all of which is taken as part of being ‘part and parcel’ of normality as is
operated within a stable social order, with the exception that such nihilism does
not contravene legal or moral standing which might threaten the social order that
leads to punishment.
So
far, the unusual characters that are thrown up in society may be labelled as
being odd, or interesting, potential unhelpful, useful or rarely dangerous;
they do not generally conform to quiet normality, they may raise some heckles in
what they say or do but are tolerated. They are obvious in action word or deeds
and if largely integrated within the social organism may add some divergent
character to the enrichment of mundane reality akin to say a Everett, Dawson, Dawkins,
Osborne, Trump, Hitchens’s or a Savile
etc. these sort of people have an outlet for their deviance in humour, rant,
cant, obscenity, focused opinions or excessive theatricals etc (not in any
order or measure) but for them to be known as a character they have to be
become or have to be cosseted in a degree of wealth and public attention to
sustain their position as they attempt to influence a view onto the general
public. Even though such people may appear odd and might have psychological
gaps in their behavioural attitudes they can be subsumed within the broad context
of social activity. Mostly, apart from when playing to an audience, they exist
within the social system and seem to function with an emotional cognitive relationship
to acquaintances that may also maintain them sufficient to pass as commonsensical
to dubiously normal and in this the strength of a healthy social order might be
measured by how it can endure the productivity of such characters and encompass
what they have to offer without being threatened. Clearly they can also be of
an influential nature and will attract a following that offers additionality to
their position and it may be difficult to ascertain the logic of such a
following however one can see that generally the attraction is limited to the
core influences being expressed by the deviant without any great in-depth analyse
by the followers of the implication and consequences of what is being
expressed.
The
vast majority of people would occupy the position of being unremarkable normal
and even the odd un-miss able ones would not be construed as being certifiable,
that is just the way they are with their weird predilection prejudices. The minor
middle-of-the-road odd characters will not be of particular note and be
disregarded as the ordinary functional weave of society with the odd notable
and affluent interacting with a personal close support social system in some
degree of secure comfort. However the less able; those that suffer poverty have
no such support resources for ‘constructive’ outlets and might resort to self
destructive actions and convenient opportunistic nihilism. These disadvantaged may
be considered the unseen, not necessarily having a excessive exposure amongst
people in society and they might not be of overt harm or dangerous, although
occasionally there will be exceptions; as there also can be in the privilege
odd selection but they are within the system and play their opportunity hand
with some obvious intent however within all this mix there is a small secreted section
that may not be recognised nor particularly seen as a threat due their
sophistication of embeddedment. This small section are all a conditional
unrecognised covert danger, they are people who operate on a limited external perceptual
basis but are publicly socially sophisticated, who have no compunction in
placing their own needs above all others. They have little understanding or
connection to the minutia of the lives of the cursed proletariat. These are the
willing facilitators and proponents of the structured death sites, they are 2d
people.
These
two dimensional people seem initially superficially normal, as one can define
‘normal’, the difference is only exposed when they are put in a position of
having to openly socially interact and express opinions that requires the portrayal
of an emotional content that is variable and is reflective within their
relationship connections. Their perception of reality and any emotional
connections to that reality do not manifest in these two dimensional minds;
although in nearly most situation they will have a good verbal flexibility to
express sympathetic tones, they are at the same time limited in any ability to
formulate feelings or concepts of a depth of personality with people or the general
practically of everyday life and surrounding. These are people that suffer from
a diminished ability to formulate a reflective stance built on the overall
expressions of others. (They cannot mentally put themselves in others position)
A hard obvious natural example of a similar type of personality would be tagged
as sociopath / psychopath or someone afflicted by a differently mapped brain
function, these are natural occurring results of biological interaction but this
is not the same profile as a functioning two dimensional minded person. For
simplicity sake one could say of these two dimensional people that they are
actually mad, insane, crackers, psychopath, sociopath, etc. but the extremity of
these descriptions is only recognised in the aftermath of unacceptable acts and
can later be put down to a brain physiological defect of natural occurrence and
with this description they may be categorised and maybe usefully certified.
A
certified person will be hopefully containable to be assisted but 2d people are
not, they are seen as ‘normal’, operate with complicit connivance, some exposed
in opportunistic circumstance that gives rein to conscious acts of abhorrent
behaviour, a few will often be in privilege positions to disguise their acts and
as an indication of what this means one might offers that this may be the
reason that there appears to be an subtle increase in the number of people that
do not operate on a whole functional level. One can observe them and have the
feeling that ‘they are not all there’.
Examples
can be found in a growing lack of observable humanity and compassion in the
professional and public social scene. On one level this is shown up in unusual incident
activity of bullying over the past 20 years within the work place, schools and
‘professional’ structures. It is often been linked to stressful situations with
blame being focused on the recipient and not the perpetrator who is hidden
under the epaulet tag of “robust management” or “beasting” to enforce control, they
are sometimes excused as being ‘a bit’ of a psychopath, a quality some think of
being an essential element for focused management and leadership roles! There has
been an unhealthy willingness to overlook complaints and rely on the structured support
for the management’s right to manage, preferring to bury the evidence, deny the
existence of any complaint, stress the weakness of the offended or when the
excreted cannot be avoided find a suitable volunteering / forced scapegoat, anything
to preserve the integrity and innocence of the administrative body. The
individual 2d concerned often escapes early scrutiny due to the followers that
they have gathered to themselves and provide the screen to disguise their
directive actively but it becomes obvious when they are singularly placed. Observe
them in the public realm and they may
well fall into and age band of 30/70 being at a time of most influence and as a
clue to picking them out one can look to the saying the “Thousand yard stare”. This
is a phrase derived from the military action as a way to described a solider
whom is spaced out on the stress adrenalin of fighting and is on the point of
breakdown, they seem to be looking into the long distance with a fixed stare
and may not be aware of their immediate surroundings or what is being said to
them but will keep going by the habit of strained action giving no thought to
the consequences of what he/she is doing or the affect nor implication of
actions, this is deemed the death stare. In addition to this observable tell-tale we can now have the thousand yard speech. This is one were when a
question is asked of a notable politician or senior business person, one that they
would not wish to answer, is taken with a change in their manner to adopt the
stare and go into a verbal repetitive rote mode spewing scripted dogma that
avoids any meaningful response and filibuster without stop, ignoring any
attempt to be challenged or diverted from the verbiage being expressed and outrun
any question time left. These are the cosseted created non self made 2d people of
the pre tech era with a deviant psychology make-up and mitigated limited intelligent
compassion for others that can cause so much harm. However even when exposed
they are afterwards allowed to move to a less prominent roles with suitable
accommodation to smooth their way out. But what should be of concern now is the
creation of a new breed of 2d people that will lack the normalised cultural sophistication
of the older generation due to the easy singular isolation, the illusionary
scope offered by new interactive technology.
The
use of computer games and the very effective graphics simulations, stimulate many
reinforcements aspect of activity carried on in the pursuit of the participating
demands of the computer user, a feedback reinforcement situation takes place working
on the visual, cognitive, sight and hearing of an individual in a highly
concentrated period and although computer interaction is still considered of a passive
usability activity action, often it will have a cumulative subtle effect on
behaviour and psychology. A lot of the activity within games have core elements
that are non consequential to the ‘player’, they are violent and encourage easy
unhindered destructive action with the reward being self congratulatory actual or
presumed peer recognition. Excessive use and the relationship some individuals
form with computer two way wysiwyg, which is functionally a two dimensional
object portraying two dimensional visual representation of reality (there is no
depth, no physical or actual emotional connection to the world that is depicted
in them) they do not relate to external practicalities or the subtlety of actual
personal contact. Susceptible mind sets will spend hours watching a two
dimension image on a vdu computer screen with mediums like face-book, twitter,
reddit, or pod sites etc; reacting to them as if they were a reciprocating
reality and in participating display little discretionary objectivity or
analysis in the material being streamed at them or them responding using it.
Even actual real abhorrent acts depicted in some media sites are not felt as
repulsive but an accepted element of their virtual world. It becomes their framed
‘window’ on the world that potentially leads to a narrowed view of the real
world, overtime this must lead to distancing from the connection of everyday
life but rather into one of fantasy. If there is consistent non discriminative
addiction to toxic material, there is the possibility that the minds of these
people with be significantly changed and the questions have to be asked, what
potentially long term destructive impact will such people have given that they
may not appreciate nor understand the consequences of their virtual transferable
2d actions and can such an epigenetic change be passed onto another generation?
Unfortunately
the cult of personality celibacy which permeates the PR media news may take
some of these 2d people to move from an isolated fantasy to one of projecting
importance of them-selves onto a much broader stage. As postulated, There are
already people that operate in a 2d manner, those that are biologically natural,
notable, uncertified, in the public sphere and many more unknown and developing
falling on a purposeful scale of perhaps dysfunctional like people, like a conditional
psychopath, who’s social interaction may function on a loose practical level
but have a reduced field of emotive vision. The problem is without real social
interaction that develops an emotive sense of others and the dominance in the
lives of many people living off screen interface systems, that many hundreds of
new 2d people are being created with untold impact on the near future of social
health and order. Does this matter? Broad empirical evidence today indicates that
it does and an expansion of disharmony in inter-cultural systems may well exacerbate
the potential for 2d individuals to become materially expressive; in that time
the ability to facilitate rehabilitation or counteract the effect of them is
unlikely to be unproblematic and volume virtual scrutiny will be ineffective to
help in determining the appropriate opportune moment for a 2d to perform.
