The Problem with God.

“The problem with the God thing is not God but the followers of God”

Of course using the term God is also to be linked to other language names of reverence, so that in all minds there is the concept of the supreme unknowable deity, with a name, to whom believers look too. God has been given a number of names, God being one, others might be; Elohim, Jehovah, Allah, Vishnu, Alpha-Omega or any number of other names, yet none of them are actually the real name. In this it can be assumed that the names are just a nomenclature for whatever it is that has a supreme essence that has no known defining limitation to its powers of substance over all things. It does seem certain that in all cultures throughout history God or gods have been made known as a potent creation, active in the affairs of wo/man.

It may just be a human trait that seeks to make a deity to whom one can hold as the ‘person’ to whom one can blame or call to and beg entreaties off, entreaties that have an impact on ones existence, often for the betterment of oneself, situations or (being charitable) for others.  Humans use a name such as God as a means of encompassing a image that really should not have one but it appeals to humans needs to ‘see’ a shape to the power that they want to access. Therefore, there is a God, male or female or neither and occupying a definitive shape ready to do a petitioners bidding, it is thought.

This concept belief in God, in its-self is not belittling of the human sprit. As much as some would argue that such a belief is destructive and useless which avoids taking ultimate responsibility for ones own action and evades accepting the imposition of the human existence with all its magnificence included imperfections. There are many people whom are virulently apposed to the idea, concept and belief in any form of God source and take a nihilistic view of human existence that exceed a mere atheist  stance. Both the nihilist and the atheist may see wo/man as the sum of all things, which requires little investigation of their existence or purpose and has no need of unsubstantiated influencing power.  For those taking a balanced view, the belief in a God may be no more than subscribing to a desire of accessing ones own inner strength, ones own sprit or conscious / unconscious facilities, in an effort to strengthen one self. This is a form of positive thinking and may be seen to be a harmless or potentially good practice match against the knowledge that life is not of itself fair. However, life is so desired to be against inequalities, ineptness and human perversity and that as what humans creates, produces the cruelties of life, one needs a bit of self- empowering reinforcement. 

In an assumption that a tenuous God exist, it is making a great unsubstantiated claim for the very existence of God that is only made possible by the application of faith. There is for some the accepted evidence that one exist and using the obvious proof of the very existence of existence its self, is enough to hold a belief in God even though for many others this is no proof at all, all is a matter of physics and natural order. Never the less God existence or not is a conundrum that exercises the mind and lives of millions to the extent that their lives are controlled in accordance to whatever faith structure they are adherents of.  

In its simplest form the idea of a God offers a created path to step outside of normal existence and open up aspect of gaining desires that are not achievable via the usual means of effort. The wish is to bring about an intervention on a human level of something that sits outside all known human interaction and power, perhaps to gain a favour to contend against the imposition of life’s cruelties. This call for help is understandable, it is one that at some time in a life anyone would want to seek or ask for remission of anomie oppression and actual physical injury or simple seeking to find a better way, to be.

Taking the view that an individual belief in God is harmless, not abrogating ones own responsibility in doing so, why is it that there is so much trouble with it? If God just sat on its throne and did nothing, after of course setting the whole of creation in motion, it might be please of peeved at the unrolling events but being Omni-present and Omni-prescience, it lets things unfold in their own time to a conclusion. Unfortunately because wo/man demand so much of it, God has seemingly reneged on being a active participant in its experiment and with just a little esoteric nod and wink to point a direction of development, it has set in train vague ideas that need exemplifying. As God does not easily speak too many with busy lives and minds even when called direct, it does offer opportunity to attend to a messenger in response to a supplication that does not usually arrive in obtrusive form. This may be to test of one being aware, to be receptive to the indication of assistance, a subtlety that can all to easily be missed however failing this is it has allowed selected people to use its voice in a direct auditory way so heathens may also hear the words it has spoken.

These subtleties is so opaque to obtuse minds and as the use of intermediary messengers to carry the intention of god is not robust enough to have an impact, so humans have to do the job for it and this was were the superior temperament of human life plays its important part. God has quiet clearly appointed, from time to time, a number of people to project its messages onto the world. These people are taken as prophets, having received a visitation form God and given understanding of what is required to enter its kingdom. Disregarding the fact these people are generally human with all the attributes which that endows, their intonation and writing are taken as the irrefutable evidence of the wishes of God and are transcribed into the text of religious faiths like the Bibles (old & new), Tanaka (Torah) and the Quran (Koran) being the main driver text of ardent followers.

It does seem preposterous that God given (for argument sake) that it exist, should have any need to whisper in the ear of any attentive follower or indeed to allow any special other to carry the burden of promoting its meaning but clearly it is in need of the assurance it is being taken seriously. It is there fore opportune to have written up a directive of instructions for followers to live for and the bibles are the way. These books being a fabrication of the prophets all have an element of power and they have an incorruptible uncomfortable essence of truthfulness about them but not all the words inscribes are the words of gods, if any. How can they be when the language it speaks is not of human understanding even less so when the intention behind them does not compare with human existence or desires and written at a time some distance from the events that now is history? 

Yet the incompleteness of bibles and the severe strictures they call for does not override the authority it gives to an interpreter for a controlling influence on followers and who contrive to rule over them. Here is the issue, there is nothing wrong in the belief in God or that God may want to help wo/man achieve their best humanity for the greater good and call to it for guidance in times of need. This can be done on an individual basis as required without any intermediary in the tenet of ‘do no harm’ and without edifices or idols. Regrettably the disconnect between the application of ones soul and power of faith to listen,  is filled with the easy self serving adoption of mantras spewed out by the misguidance of those that want control over others. The need to control and threaten others to their way is to the exclusion of any discourse on the veracity of the books they desecrate with their own perversity, often for the subjugation of females to males and the continuance of their power.   

It cannot be in the Gods interest to have its followers led astray; to have sectarian power gains at the expense of one against another or to have 50% of a species subjugated or for the minority of the population of the world to enslave the majority,   so it must be that Gods follower are no longer listening to it. How else can one account for the propagated violence in the name of prophets and based on the “actual” verbatim words of god to inflict corruption onto people using bibles as the source of authority, it must be an obscene desecration of the intention for the ostensible existence of God. Gods’ followers have taken upon themselves to be the sole arbitrator and path to its knowledge. As they are becoming purported demigods themselves, it must make God laugh!
